To Jerusalem in 40 Days – summary

Objective achieved! After 40 days of walking, covering almost 3,500 km and approx. 5 million steps, equaling about… 16,800 circles around our house … we have reached Galilee and Jerusalem! We are happy because we have succeeded and are so grateful to all who supported us with their prayers, for the decision we took (that seemed like a fantasy at that time!) and for the funds allocated to support the poorest residents of our city and also the victims of war in Aleppo in Syria. Congratulations to our residents who stood up to the challenge and proved once again that poverty, homelessness and loneliness do not deprive a person of the ability to do beautiful and ambitious things and… supporting others.

The measurable result of our trip is the support of two families from Aleppo to whom we provided funds (PLN 4,320) and support for other two people who wanted to create micro-businesses: to Rami, a widow with 4 children we donated PLN 2,550 for the purchase of a sewing machine and to Abouda, 24 years old, wounded in the war, to whom we gave PLN 4,000 to create a service stand for repairing mobile phones. On their behalf, we thank everyone who donated any funds. We hope that the prayer with which we went in the intention to end the epidemic will also result in greater sensitivity to the needs of others and confirms in us the belief that crises, just as the poverty, are not only a problem, but a challenge and an opportunity. Thank you for your support. Have a good day and a good life!

Our inspirations

A. Mary Magdalene, who ran to the Apostles on Easter morning with an assignment from the Risen One: “Let them go to Galilee, they will meet me there”. We also want to take up this task because we want to meet the Resurrected Jesus.

B. St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, our patroness: when she was very sick she could no longer leave the infirmary and she walked from time to time around her bed. When asked why she was doing this, she replied: “I’m walking for a certain missionary”. Even under severe limitations, we don’t lose the ability to do something for others.

C. An Italian from an area affected by epidemics: he walked a marathon for 9 hours… around a table in his own apartment.
